After deciding their bungalow wasn’t suitable for an extension, the Keane’s opted for a demolish and rebuild. A traditional 1.5-storey brick-clad home now sits on the original site.

“We wanted our home to feel as if it has stood here for years. We sought inspiration from the woodland setting and were keen to specify air-dried oak beams for the vaulted kitchen ceiling. Our builder initially suggested glulam, but we decided instead to invest in the joists we longed for.”

Having lived on the site for two years the couple had a good grasp of how sunlight would interact with the property throughout the year – giving architect Andrew Pipe a helping hand with his vision for the house.
