Eight years after purchasing the plot of land adjacent to their bed and breakfast business, Iain and Lesley MacDonald decided to take the plunge and create a bespoke home on the idyllic waterside plot.

Keen to have one contractor responsible for the project, they opted for a modular build approach, with prefab specialists Carbon Dynamic overseeing construction.

Now completed, the property is a striking, modern structure, with horizontal larch cladding harmonising with the wooded surroundings.

A full-length balcony, coupled with the home’s upside down layout, frames the panoramic views of the loch below.

The building is packed with lots of inbuilt storage, including a walk-in-wardrobe and a large kitchen larder. An open-plan living-kitchen-dining space on the upper storey creates a welcoming flow between zones.

Professionally landscaped, the outside space sees the flower beds and lawns divided into curved segments, completing the rectangle shape of the building.
