Three solar panels landscape

Our recent installation of 3 Heliomotion PV-6 systems at a private property took around 2.5 days altogether as tasks were carried out in parallel, by different people.

The owners are very keen to use renewable energy and be as independent as possible from the grid as they recognise the climate is changing and they want to mitigate their large bills.

With our advice, they marked out the site in preparation using correct measurements to take a slight slope and shading from multiple systems into account.

Ground screw installation for a single system took around half an hour.  They assembled the columns and tracker units themselves once the ground screws were in position.

These were the different stages of the installation:

  1. The base plates and ground screws were installed using an Atlas Copco Cobra.
  2. The clients remembered to read the assembly manual (very important!) – bolted on the foundation columns and flanges, while ensuring the balks faced due south using a smart phone.
  3. The drive units and frame holders were bolted on.
  4. The aluminium framework, panels, and fixings were added.
  5. They installed the conduit, and pull through for the cable, while the electrician wired up the inverter.

The electrician connected the systems and switched them on.  After about two minutes the panels started turning into the right position to face the sun.  Within a few minutes the three systems were generating over 6000 watts between them.

The owners are very happy with the results and are now preparing to add metering to compare their output with their usage, followed by battery storage as they are creating surplus power.
