It was important that this contemporary bungalow was eco-friendly as the clients wanted the reduce their environmental impact. As a result, we decided to keep the design as simple as possible in order to incorporate the features they had always dreamed of.
The home has been insulated with sheep’s wool and is so energy efficient that it has not been installed with heating – in the winter months the clients only use a single wood burning stove to heat the home.
We were responsible for the structural design, engineering and manufacturing of features such as the timber frame, cladding, windows and doors (amongst more).
A tricky site in all respects; elevated site for groundwork, hand-lifting of the panels and roof trusses up a steep incline, and no space for scaffold on two sides, the result is an impressive, open-plan bungalow.
