Clapham Construction service was appointed to undertake this rear dormer loft conversion as a straight forward Design and Build Project. During the design phase, the clients had the opportunity to review some active projects from Clapham Construction Service and naturally came back with some ideas to discuss with their Architect.
The property was once 3 bed house much like any other in London. They worked with the design team on layout and planned for a fully converted 4 bedroom property with a Dormer loft conversion and rear addition, providing the extra space needed for an extra full size bathroom. This is called an L- Shaped Dormer conversion.
Victorian houses often include this rear addition to the back of the property along terraced streets, they create a great opportunity nowadays to add an additional bedroom to the roof of this structure, which is fantastic for increasing the property value or to add a full size family bathroom. This allows for a very spacious master bedroom in the converted loft space, like this particular project.
This was a good size double bedroom with floor to ceiling glazing, with full width slim profile and flush glazing in 3 glass panels. This has a beautiful effect on the space and opens the room to the outside view with dramatic effect. The reclaimed, renewed and resealed floorboards help transform this loft conversion project into something unique. Large Velux windows were added to the front sloping room, which increased the amount of light coming into this room.
The new bathroom was created in the rear addition and its approx. 11 sqm in size, fully kitted with a Victorian free-standing bath and compete with tiling throughout to create a wet room for the shower. Underfloor heating and a slim profile corner frosted window add to the opulence of the project.
