When it comes to channelling light into your basement extension, IQ Glass’s structural glazed floors are a popular solution. Made from high-specification laminated glass, they create a clear surface that can accommodate the load of a person walking across it.
By laminating the material in multiple layers, an extremely strong and durable glass face is established. Beneath this, spacer bars and inner panes of glass can be added to create a floor that’s insulated, too.
Usually, the top layer of the surface is stepped, which means that it’s slightly bigger than the sheet below it. This will allow you to hide all of the fixings beneath the lip, bringing floor finishes right up to the edge of the glazing and establishing a sleek, flush finish.
As the material used is very thick, IQ Glass recommends using extra clear low-iron glass to remove the green tint that is evident in normal clear glazing.
