At Lapd Architects we love clients that have big ambitions for their projects. When Alison and James came to us with their idea for a new build that would accommodate their way of life and be more environmentally friendly, we were excited to help them realise their dream.
We took their passion and excitement and began creating a design solution that would not only fulfil their brief but be realistic in terms of scope, planning considerations and budget.
We spent time with them discussing the multitude of options they had, and condensing down the design process into key decisions that were manageable.
As with any project, there were limitations with regards planning permission, budget and site context. The site was positioned in a residential area of Cholsey, neighboured by surrounding cottages and a grade 2 listed bakehouse.
We worked with our in house planning consultant and expert architects to make sure the build was feasible and would fly through the planning process.
The client wanted to solve the problems that they had with the existing structure on the plot of land through two guiding design principles: a manageable, energy efficient, build accompanied with sensitive attention to the feel and style of the immediate area.
Our team has a strong focus on sustainable living, and our green-build experts worked closely with the clients to create a property that matched these specific needs.
The result is a beautiful modern home that is aware of its surrounding context. Large windows flood living areas with natural light, and the home has managed to tread the line between a sleek modern design and a cosy rural feel.
