Situated on a unique piece of land overlooking a small village and a river, this stunning pair of houses has been realized by WeberHaus.
Sanaa and Simon Ovenstone live in the right-hand property, while Simon’s good friend and business partner resides in the separate home on the other side. Built half into a hill, these two independent houses feature separate underground parking spaces in the basement.
Large expanses of glazing have been positioned on the front elevation of each property, flooding the interiors with natural light. The broad swathes of glass also allow stunning views over the valley and river.
Among a host of clever design features is the cantilevered first floor, which helps to protect the ground floor terrace during periods of bad weather. A balcony with full glass railings provides another aesthetic highlight. Vertically-laid grey timber cladding has been chosen to keep the design simple and understated.
Inside, the open-plan ground floor is set across two split levels and provides large living, kitchen and dining areas. A beautiful fireplace has been installed to act as a room divider. The upper storey comprises the occupants’ private living space.
Next to the guest rooms, there is a master bedroom with an adjacent ensuite and dressing room. The spacious bathing zone has been designed with a freestanding bath tub, from where the owners can enjoy the amazing views over the surrounding countryside.
