Submit plansI’m costing a blockwork extension and am wondering how to calculate how much soft sand and cement will be needed to build it. Is there a way to work this out if you know the area? I also need to know the same for the sharp sand and cement needed for the render.
Here’s a breakdown of wall thickness compared with block types:

290mm 0.068m³ 0.078m³
For cement mortar with one part cement to three parts sand, you will need 440kg of cement and 1,820kg of sand per m³. For rendering 18mm thick you will need 0.018m³ of rendering per m², which equates to about 8kg of cement and 32kg of sand per m² of rendering.
