I’m interested in buying a plot and want to build a high-spec large four-bedroom detached house in stone with a detached double garage. Could you please advise me of the construction cost range I can anticipate?

For a house with an above-average standard of specification built to your own design, allow £1,000 to £1,100 per metre square of the total floor area plus £12,000 for the garage and £10,000 for the external works (drives, fencing etc).
