Labour saving

3 December 2012

We are going to build a small extension and have the skills to do the work ourselves but are not sure about the time. How much would we save if we went down this route?

Answers

Labour costs are usually about 40 per cent to 45 per cent of the total building cost so on a 20m² extension you could probably save about £10,000 but the work would take longer than using a builder.
