Right representation

3 December 2012

I am having major problems getting suitable plans approved with the conservation department within the district planning department. Can you help me find representation to handle my case – preferably someone with a successful track record. My case has been dragging on for at least two years now and is becoming stressful.

The RIBA can recommend suitable architects locally and you can contact them either via their website (www.architecture.com) or on 020 7307 3700. You could also look at the council’s planning records to see where permission has been granted for projects similar to yours and who dealt with the design. That information should be accessible via the council’s website, but if not you can call in at its planning department and have a look. The information is all in the public realm and you’re entitled to look at it.
