I’m building as green as possible within budget, but am not sure about plastering technique – dot and dab or wet plaster? Which is more eco?
Dot and dab (dry-lined) is the prevalent method in the UK as it’s quick to do and can be decorated almost immediately, and all timber-frame builds must be dry-lined. But wet plaster gives a more solid finish, and eliminates the air flow between the plaster and wall. This is important for air-tightness tests, if you dry-line you need to seal all the edges to reduce this (and meet Building Regulations). Natural plasters such as lime or clay are the most eco though.
