R-Wall’s X-Rail System

R-Wall’s advanced X-Rail system is purpose-built to create concrete-faced walls using a simple, efficient formwork method. Standard 18mm shutter boards slot into the X-Rail to form temporary shuttering, which is removed after pouring and reused—delivering a fast, straightforward, and cost-effective construction process.

The X-Rail integrates seamlessly with R-Wall Formwork to produce walls with both insulated and exposed concrete surfaces. This hybrid approach is ideal for a wide range of applications, including:
• External retaining walls
• Below-ground structures
• Waterproofing (eliminating the two-part systems typically required with ICF walls)
• Lift shafts
• Fireplaces
• Swimming pools
• Sub-base constructions

For enhanced fire protection, the shutter board can be substituted with a fireboard that remains in place, offering a durable solution for fire safety between dwellings. Insulation is applied to the inner face to meet modern energy efficiency standards.

The system supports a variety of R-Ties to adjust concrete core thicknesses—available in 4″, 6″, 8″, 10″, and 12″ options. Reinforcement steel can be incorporated using R-Tie locators, providing 40mm or 50mm of cover. The core widths also accommodate standard I-beams where required. R-Ties slide along the X-Rail for flexible positioning and easy integration of starter bars.

Manufactured entirely in the UK from 93% recycled plastics, the X-Rail system is lightweight and requires no heavy lifting equipment. Its modular design enables the creation of curves and corners at any angle using the same components.

R-Wall is fully BBA approved, a member of the ICFA, and accepted by warranty providers, building regulations, and mortgage lenders.
