By redefining the meaning of ‘accessible design’, this stylish SIPs self build home beautifully blends form and function, setting a new bar for accessibility living and totally transforming the lives of the homeowners – one of whom is a wheelchair user.

The single storey, four bed, two bathroom SIPs home was designed taking a fabric first approach, and whilst sustainability was a main requirement of this ambitious project, the focus was always to create a fully accessible home with no comprise on style.

Built from the 142mm Kingspan TEK Building System, this 213m2 barn style SIPs home is set within the boundaries of the beautiful York Moors and has cleverly combined traditional stone and contemporary standing seam Zinc for its facade. The new SIPs self build was designed to “stand out from the crowd” yet it also melds beautifully into the local landscape.

Oozing personality and character, this home is a true self build, where the very ‘hands on’ clients took on some of the most challenging elements of the build themselves to ensure that the budget was met – a real testament to an inspirational project.
