21st-22nd February 2026 - time to get your dream home started!
BOOK HERENestled in a breathtaking elevated spot on an organic farm, this home commands magnificent views to the north, overlooking the estuary and the picturesque rolling hills of Devon. In partnership with local architectural firm Harrison Sutton, Carpenter Oak designed and crafted the oak frame for this exceptional home. The frame was constructed in their Devon workshops and then transported to the site for installation in the summer of 2022.
The home has been thoughtfully and efficiently designed, with a space-saving spiral staircase, ensuring every inch of the footprint is utilised. The ground floor has an open-plan kitchen, living and dining area, bedroom, bathroom, and separate toilet. The spiral stairs lead up to the mezzanine second floor where there’s a 2nd sleeping area and separate shower room.
Externally, oak-framed verandas grace both the front and rear of the farmhouse, seamlessly extending the living areas onto beautifully paved terraces – ideal for enjoying al fresco meals in the open air.
Sustainability was at the forefront of both the design and construction processes. The house is meticulously air-tight and benefits from an air source heat pump. Other timbers used throughout the property, such as cladding, flooring, doors, and the staircase, were sourced from local woodlands and processed at a nearby sawmill run by Mike Gardner at Woodmanship, ensuring a truly local supply chain for much of the build. Furthermore, the home features natural insulation materials, including SteicoFlex 036 and Beltermo ultra wood fibre sarking board, which significantly enhance its impressive eco credentials.
If you are inspired by this unique blend of sustainable design and rural charm, why not explore the possibilities for your own eco-conscious home? Get in touch with Carpenter Oak to discuss how you can turn your vision into reality.
