I saw a course advertised somewhere quite a while ago which was 5 days spent on learning about basic building skills eg electrical, plumbing, heating, plastering, roofing, bricklaying, carpentry etc. It aimed to give self builders a practical insight into how the various building trades undertake their work and the technical language used so that the self-builder would be better placed to speak with the tradesmen and understand their needs during a construction project. It may also have had some practical sessions to try the trades. It sounded really useful and interesting. Can anyone point me in the direction of such a course please? It had a very different emphasis from other self-build courses which give valuable insight into other aspects of self build eg finance, plot finding and so on.
