A smooth finish

My builder has been saying that we need to use a power float machine for the floor. Can you explain what one is and how it works?

Answers

A power float is a concrete finishing machine designed to smooth and, to a certain extent, level the surface of the concrete to an exceptionally high tolerance. Low and high points of the concrete can be levelled by the operation of the machine, but before the float is used, the concrete will need to be laid, levelled and compacted using vibration. The vibration provides removal of air, which is essential for concrete to achieve full strength and durability. A key requirement for a power float is for it to be perfectly balanced and operated correctly.
