Peter and Katie Marchant wanted to create a contemporary pool house in their garden in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, featuring a swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, changing facilities, and a shower. Their vision was for a modern glass structure with clean lines, abundant natural light, and a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.

A central feature of the design was the extensive use of Minima Sliding sliding doors. These slimline doors, with 20 mm sightlines, flush thresholds, and hidden locks, maximized glazing and provided unobstructed views of the pool and surrounding garden. The design also included a pocket door that slides into the wall, creating a large open corner and allowing the interior to flow naturally onto the terrace. The frameless look complemented the minimalist aesthetic and made the space feel bright, open, and connected to the outdoors.

The project presented significant logistical challenges. Access to the site was limited, with a side entry narrowing to just 60 cm because of a protruding chimney stack. Minima Sliding coordinated a specialist crane capable of lifting large glass panels and rooflights over the existing house. A glazing robot was also employed to place the doors safely and accurately. Despite these complexities, the installation was completed efficiently in a single day, demonstrating careful planning, technical expertise, and precise execution.

Peter and Katie were impressed not only with the doors themselves but also with Minima Sliding’s service. The team provided guidance at every stage, from early planning to installation, ensuring the doors fitted perfectly and performed reliably. The result is a striking pool house that combines contemporary design, functional performance, and a strong indoor-outdoor connection. The space has become a favourite for entertaining, relaxing, and enjoying the garden, fulfilling the couple’s vision and illustrating how Minima Sliding doors can transform modern residential projects.
