I want to start to make the materials list for the driveway so I discharge this planning condition. Please will someone tell me the names of components/elements to build a roadway. Then I will work through each element and source a material and supplier.... Thank you if you can help me... My husband can't tell me.

Firstly, here’s hoping for a speedy recovery for your husband. I can see this has thrown you in at the deep end and just shows that all the prior planning in the world is for nothing when life gets in the way.

Without seeing the drawings nor any particular planning conditions that apply to your project, it is difficult to answer the question in any detail as there are many different permutations available and costs will vary based on what surface finish is used, which, in turn, is going to be dictated by the distances involved and what sort of traffic the roadway will be expected to cope with.

You will certainly need some sort of substrate of compacted hardcore for the roadway, but the next step will depend on what finish you will be using.

Other considerations are what drainage and kerbing or edge finishing will be required to comply with sustainable drainage regulations.

My advice would be to seek quotes from reputable ground workers in your local area and ask them to price for the work making sure that they are aware of any planning conditions that must be complied with.

This is a job that needs to be done correctly first time by someone who knows what they are doing.
