I have a stone built house, and I want to know if it is possible to remove a 3m length of the wall in the sitting room to put in RSJ's to facilitate the fitting of bifold doors?
Yes, is the very short answer. You will need input from a structural engineer to make sure that the whole width of the wall is supported. The engineer can also advise on the depth of steel(s) required and how this impacts on the head height for the bi-folds. Check if the house if Listed as this alteration will require Listed Building consent.
