BOOK YOUR TWO FREE TICKETS HEREIn addition to the Building Regulations Fee that needs to be paid to the local Council, how much should I budget to have a designer/architect/structural engineer perform the activities needed to achieve Full Building Regulations approval (i.e. structural calculations for house superstructure, preparation of structural engineering drawings, submission of Building Regulations form etc.) for a new build 3 bedroom detached house of 200 sq m?
Architect’s fees vary quite a bit but typically for a budget of say around £300k -£400k (@ £1,500 to £2,000 per sqm) a fee for a full service would be around 7% to 9% of the total costs. The service up to building regulations accounts for 50% to 60% of the fee.
Engineer’s fees are usually separate and could easily be a few thousand, depending on the complexity of the structural design.
