Do I need planning permission to build a shed?

Can you please tell me if I need planning permission to build a shed constructed of breeze blocks in my back garden? It will be at least 10m away from the house and 4m x 3m x about 2.5m high.
Thanks so much for getting in touch with your question. Most sheds can be built under permitted development (PD) rights, meaning you won’t need planning permission. You’ll need to check that they apply to your property, as these rights can be removed by previous planning permissions relating to your home and there are some exceptions. It’s always best to reach out to your local planning authority and obtain a certificate of lawful development, to confirm that your shed can be installed under PD rights and prove that it is legitimate.
