Have I Been Overcharged for Party Wall Fees?

I am finding that my Party Wall fees seem very high. For a small amendment for an existing PW agreement I have in place I was charged £900.00 for an amendment. The surveyor was only on site half an hour???

    Hi Karen,

It’s difficult to give you a hard-and-fast answer to this, but drawing up a new Party Wall Agreement would typically cost around £1,200-£2,000 (possibly higher for a complex project).

£900 is a sizeable chunk of that; so at first glance it does seem steep for an amendment. But it’s not just about how much time they’re on site for; there’s also their desk work in getting the Agreement updated etc.

I can only assume your surveyor would argue there was a significant amount of chargeable work involved in this amend. If you don’t agree, you could always challenge them to produce an itemised bill.

Sorry not to be of more help!
