Dan Wood Lewis

When Grand Designs presenter Kevin McCloud visited this house he called it “the house of the future”. He also said: ‘It isn’t a house of now, it is a house of 2035 or even 2050, because it is high performing, low energy and low carbon. This is the kind of house we’ll all be wanting to live in in 15 years’ time”.

Leah and Craig Lewis, who built the Dan-Wood Point 158EAE house, had both been in the military and, having travelled around a lot they decided it was time to put down roots. They found the opportunity at the Graven Hill development in Oxfordshire, which offers fully serviced plots with outline planning permission and plot passport which provide guidance such things as houses styles and sizes.

The Lewis’s were very impressed with the Dan-Wood teams.

“The Dan-Wood team that we know are absolutely phenomenal,” says Craig.

“Before the building’s even started and just helping you through planning, Dan-Wood were amazing through the process. And given their insights from past experiences and suggesting things that we would have never thought of, I mean, even silly things like kitchen lighting and have you thought about actually putting in spotlights because if Leah’s stood at the cooker and she’s blocking the central light hanging down.

“I can’t fault them. I mean when you compare it to a standard build, and this is what I tried to tell friends and family, when you do a Dan-Wood build, along with the house comes the team. And I think the team along with the build, just makes it.”
