When Ron and Carol Barksfield decided to build their own home, they knew exactly what they wanted. It had to be eco-friendly, open-plan, warm and comfortable, so they set about researching various building methods. When they found Dan-Wood at a Build It Live Show and discovered that they provided a turnkey option, they described it as a “no-brainer”. The result is this handsome Dan-Wood Point 206E, a 1.5-storey dwelling with four bedrooms and an open-plan living, dining and hall area.
“The layout has really improved the way we live,” says Carol. “As I can be in the kitchen and can see my grandchildren playing at the table, and also be part of the conversation in the living room. We wanted it that way so we could all be together as a family and it works beautifully.”
Dan-Wood can customise their standard house designs to suit individual preferences. Carol decided they didn’t need such large bedrooms. So she sketched out what she wanted and asked Dan-Wood if they could reduce the size of the bedrooms and install en-suites and walk-in wardrobes instead. “We also took a storage room upstairs and made it into a utility room. To us, these seemed like massive changes, but to Dan-Wood it was no problem!”
