Facit Homes

Self builders Adrian and Tammy Connor wanted to downsize to something more manageable and energy efficient. Having secured planning permission to replace some stables on their existing property, however, they were unsure how to deliver a complex build on a tricky green belt site with no infrastructure.

The couple found Facit Homes featured in the pages of Build It magazine, and were drawn by the idea of working with a single company for the entire project. The team made some amendments to the consented design, including reworking the interior layout and incorporating a super-insulated roof while keeping the building height low to reflect the stables it was replacing.

The design and specification were developed in tandem with the client, and then delivered by Facit – from taking care of utilities right down to features such as the bespoke media wall in the living area. All of this was done on a fixed price contract, ensuring no surprises in the budget, and in just eight months on site.

Facit has created a striking project that exploits wonderful views across the valley and meets the self builders’ aims for a stylish, efficient and practical house. “We are absolutely delighted with our new home,” say the owners. “Clever use of space and light makes the place feel huge, even though we were downsizing from a large family house. We love living here.”
