Timber framed house costs

20 June 2016

Thinking of building a timber framed home but need to know more about the costs involved. I have a figure for the timber frame being supplied delivered and erected however I don’t have a clue how much the roof tiles and external finish will cost. I’m looking at a chalet style bungalow with a floor plan measurement of roughly 140m2. Any ideas would be greatly received?

Hi Tash,

I would recommend using our build cost calculator to get a better idea of what your project will cost. you can specify size, structural system etc within that: https://www.self-build.co.uk/build-cost-calculator

If you require a more detailed breakdown, we now have a tailored estimating service too: https://www.self-build.co.uk/build-it-estimating-service

Hope that helps.

Hello Tash,

I saw your comment and wanted to post a reply. Have you considered a Wee House for any land that you own? We build single storey modular homes that comply with UK Building Regulations and are highly energy efficient. Our standard 2 bedroom is 68m2 but we can do bespoke builds. The style of the wee house is traditional, charming and shows our scottish roots, something we are proud of.

The house exteriors are timber cladding and we take care of everything from the planning consent, building warrant through to the complete house build.

If you would be interested in having a conversation, please make contact with us. The website can be found here http://www.theweehousecompany.co.uk.
