Landscape of panels from a distance

A recent installation of a single Heliomotion PV-4 system at a private property in Herefordshire with a sustainability focus. The owners open their riverside property as a tea garden at weekends.

With the property having always been independent from the grid, the owners were keen to utilise renewable energy and reduce reliance on their Genset by adding a Heliomotion solar tracking power plant to their recently upgraded off-grid power generation system.

Comprising a Victron Multiplus Inverter/Charger, a Victron Solar Charge Controller, and a 15kWh BYD Lithium Battery Module.

The client commented: “Using the manual provided, the Heliomotion installation process was straightforward, taking a day to construct the concrete base, a week for the base to cure, and then a day to erect the tracking column with drive unit and assemble the metal frame.

We opted for Meyer Burger 390Wp solar panels as they are made sustainably in Europe.  Our electrician who carried out the system upgrade installed the wiring and panels in a day.”

They added: “We opted for a Heliomotion system because it allows for more efficient solar PV production than static panels, given that the panels track the sun from sunrise to sunset.

Our Heliomotion solar plant has already surpassed all expectations, producing most of our power requirements for July 2022 including the running of the appliances in the café at weekends.

Our power consumption will reduce when the café is closed over the winter, and as we’re not grid-tied and therefore not feeding back our surplus, we’re expecting that on sunny winter days the Heliomotion will continue to top up our battery and cover much of our power needs.”
