With a new build, when is the right time to apply for an address for the property. Does one apply to the post office please?
Thank you

    Hi Karen,

New addresses are allocated by the local authority – so you’d need to apply through them rather than the post office. You’d typically do this quite early on in the planning stages, as you will need an address for materials deliveries etc!

This is a separate process to arranging a completion certificate for your newly built home, which is done towards the end of the project and is the document that will trigger the need to pay council tax.

    Best wishes,

    Chris (editor, Build It)
