What’s an Alternative to Zinc Roofing?

Dear Sirs

My builder has quoted £15,336 to supply and fit a zinc roof finishes for the flat roof on the small bungalow he is building for me. Zinc was recommended by my architect, but as I need to reduce my budget, the builder has suggested we find an alternative.

I had a look on the internet and can see that steel or aluminium is cheaper and that aluminium comes in a range of colours. Whatever material we choose, the roof needs to be finished in olive green, as agreed with the council in the planning permission. I also came across a product called Greencoat PLX which is a coated steel that's popular across Scandinavia.

Do you have any idea who could supply aluminium or steel and which might be better? Or whether Greencoat PLX is a good product?

Thank you,
Karen Humphreys

    Hi

You can try a product from Tata Steel called Colorcoat Urban, which comes in a Green colour

Its a much cheaper alternative to zinc. Use one of their approved installers
