Home with glass windows and doors

Glass & Stainless were asked to inject new life into all of the glass windows and glass doors of Woodbrook Place, a large private residential home which previously had limited views of the extensive grounds.

The Brief

It was important to make sure that all the doors allowed for easy movement between the spaces. Heritage glass doors were fitted to the rear of the property to ensure maximum transparency throughout the home to ensure a light-filled interior.

The Work

Glass & Stainless worked carefully to promote harmony between the home’s internal and external spaces, letting the outside in and the inside out. PPC Aluminium senior systems windows were fitted with bifold doors as well as Aluminium Smarts systems heritage double doors and single doors. Glass & Stainless added in glass Juliet balconies, with matching powder coated 316 grade stainless steel adaptors supporting 21.52mm toughened laminated clear glass, to complete the exterior.

The property has an existing architectural feel that was preserved through the windows and glass doors, the substance of the design was protected in the choice of product. The rear elevation of the property was enhanced by a careful selection of matching glass windows throughout. Large openings to the perfect courtyard and garden space for the client to enjoy a summer afternoon were important in the brief and Glass & Stainless certainly achieved that.

The Result

Glass & Stainless worked closely to understand the needs of the client in the early stages of the design. This allowed them to provide the client with a specific look and feel perfectly tailored to their brief. The result is an elegant finish that echoes the language of the architecture.

Materials Used

When it came to creating the glass Juliet balconies, Glass & Stainless used matching powder-coated 316-grade stainless steel adaptors and 21.52mm toughened laminated clear glass. Externally, these stainless steel 316 grade products were powder coated Ral 7016 matt (anthracite) to match the windows and doors.

Powder coating was used to improve the metal’s durability and resistance; to be a major benefit when the structure in question will be exposed to a variety of weather conditions.
