Martin and Rose Church turned to Potton to help them build their dream home in Norfolk. The couple had often visited The Broads for holidays and had bought a bungalow with the intention of renovating it. However, that wasn’t possible so they decided to self build a completely new home on the plot instead.

They already knew of Potton and the couple’s research showed we offered the timber frame package most suited to their project. “When you look around you see so much inconsistency in the marketplace so you want to deal with a provider you can trust and Potton have that trust, they have many years’ experience,” says Martin.

As it was their first self build project, Martin and Rose took advantage of the workshops and courses we regularly host to build their knowledge, including those on project management and managing your build from start to finish.

“Working with Potton takes away a lot of the stress,” says Martin. “Potton did a very good job and they have a very good product,” he adds.

Their stunning timber frame home is testament to Potton’s craftsmanship and the couple’s vision. The white render exterior and glass design detail – bifold doors, balcony balustrades and large windows – all combine to create a home that’s full of natural light, with a sense of spaciousness, which is only enhanced by neutral décor and the layout of the open-plan kitchen and dining space.

“We designed it to get as much light into the house as we possibly can, so everything flows,” explains Martin.

He adds: “With all the boats going past, the views from the front are just fantastic and the balconies – you can look straight across the river at the fields, great views.

“We would definitely self build again.”
