We designed and built a rear and l-shaped dormer loft conversion and a side return extension to a family home in Highbury, Islington, North London. Creating two additional bedrooms, a bathroom and a larger kitchen diner.
This case study is a fantastic example of a top to bottom renovation of a beautiful Victorian property in Highbury, North London. On the ground floor a side return extension was added with a stunning exposed brick wall and a new open-plan kitchen. The kitchen is spacious with the bifolding doors opening the kitchen up to the garden and patio area. The skylights allow in lots of natural light down the side of the kitchen space, which creates an airy and inviting kitchen space – simply stunning in the summer!
The loft conversion has created a large, bright space for a child’s bedroom and play area, with enough space for a designated toy section to keep the bedroom organised. The wooden flooring is perfect for a child’s room, easy to wipe up any snacks, water or anything else! The Juliet balcony provides excellent ventilation for the room, whilst also being safe for small children with the guard rail across the balcony doors. We also created a beautiful bathroom for this property with this loft conversion, creating a whole new floor to this home.
This dual project has completely reenergised this family home, making it into the perfect living area for a busy working family. The additional space created by both the loft conversion and the side return extension is absolutely vital for London families, as children grow and need more space for their belongings and personal space.
