An independent professional archaeologist has told me if we did a raft foundation we could avoid having the full evaluation as it would not disturb the archaeology. What do I need to do to know if a raft foundation would work and sell it to planning?
Thanks

Hi Jocelyn,
This is a really tricky one, as so much depends on the nature of the archaeological interest. If shallow excavation wouldn’t disturb whatever’s below ground, all well and good. But, I can equally see that a raft wouldn’t do the trick – there would be services excavations in any case. So I’m not convinced! Tim might well have a view, so I have asked him for his input, too.
