When Peter and Sarah Ford were looking to downsize, an opportunity to build from scratch arose, so they engaged the design skills of Nick Blunt of Urban Curve Architecture, who had experience of German off-site manufactured houses. A two storey, four-bedroom property with architectural merit, built using sustainable materials and incorporating the latest eco technologies, including an air source heat pump for heating and hot water and solar PV panels.
Meisterstueck HAUS was approached to tender for the shell house construction. The cost of the shell house was calculated and after a visit to the factory in Hameln, Germany with the architect the client was convinced that a shell house provided by Meisterstueck HAUS would be both sustainable and highly efficient. “Opting for the Meisterstueck HAUS closed panel construction meant that our house was weathertight within four days and trades could work uninterrupted by conditions outside throughout the job,” says the couple.
