The design focused on creating a well-insulated structure with an airtight envelope, dramatically improving both thermal performance and indoor air quality.
To achieve this, Gutex Thermoroom and Multitherm wood fibre boards were installed throughout, providing high levels of natural insulation while maintaining breathability. Particular attention was paid to airtightness, with Pro Clima Contega Solido SL and Pro Clima Profil tapes carefully applied around windows to minimise heat loss and eliminate unwanted drafts.
A Wellhöfer attic hatch was also incorporated, enhancing the overall thermal performance by reducing heat escape through the roof space. This detail, often overlooked, plays a crucial role in maintaining consistent indoor temperatures.
Internally, the walls were finished with Lime Green Solo plaster, creating a smooth, natural and breathable surface that complements the building’s upgraded fabric. The result is a healthier, more comfortable living environment that feels light, fresh and welcoming.
This thoughtful renovation demonstrates how considered material choices and expert design can breathe new life into a traditional home.
