Kloeber

This 1930’s detached house had been extended a few times over the years but it had a layout that simply didn’t work for busy family life. The house felt cold and dark and got no sunlight for most of the day.

The clients wanted an open-plan kitchen, incorporating a living and dining area with a strong connection to their beautiful garden, which was a vital part of the design brief.

The back of the house was totally opened up with the addition of Kloeber’s KustomSlide Mono sliding doors that would allow light to flood the client’s home. The architects and structural engineers worked closely together to enable the ideal solution to support this wide expanse of glazing.

As Kloeber’s KustomSlide Mono sliding doors were just under 12m  wide, they required specialist lifting equipment during the installation as each glass panel weighed in excess of 250kg.

The extension has created a home that works perfectly with family life and has created the perfect connection to the outdoors for the owner who are keen gardeners.
