A Modern Upgrade with Underfloor and Wall Heating

When our customer purchased their period property in 2023, they were faced with a complex refurbishment and an outdated heating system. With ageing radiators, solid ground floors, and an inefficient boiler, they wanted a modern heating solution that improved comfort and efficiency without compromising the character of the home.

We designed an underfloor heating solution that worked across both the historic and modern parts of the property. The ground floor construction lent itself to underfloor heating beneath tiled finishes, while careful floor build-ups allowed us to introduce a low-profile underfloor heating system without excessive disruption. In areas with existing screed, we adapted the installation to suit the structure and finishes.

For the upper floors, where carpeted rooms made traditional underfloor heating less suitable, we introduced wall heating systems to maintain consistent comfort while keeping flow temperatures low. Additional insulation upgrades were incorporated to improve performance and heat reflection.

Every room was individually zoned with smart controls, allowing flexible temperature management throughout the house. This project highlights how carefully designed underfloor heating and wall heating systems can transform period properties, delivering efficient, comfortable, and adaptable heating solutions, without giving everything away at first glance.
