Hi, We are in the process of building our new home but the Building Control is proved to be very difficult. We wanted to put stone cladding on one side of the wall but he insisted on “Third party accreditation” with the material use.
Can you tell me is there a stone cladding company has such an accreditation in this country? My architect is just useless and they don’t want to know!
Any help will be gratefully appreciated and thank you in advance.
Hi Sansan,
Could you give us some more detail so we can try to help out?
When you say stone cladding, do you mean real-stone walling laid as a self-supporting leaf as part of a cavity wall (or external finish on a timber frame)?
Or are you referring to a thin cladding product that’s fixed back onto a substrate?
Thanks,
Andrew (Online Editorial Assistant, Build It)
Good morning Andrew,
Its just a stone panel system that sticks to the wall, we found one has BBA but only with concrete wall(Block work). However, after endless searched we managed to get the insurance company and building control to accept it.
After all the wrangling we have decided not to use stone cladding, we are going to use wood cladding instead as we don’t need the extra stress!
Many thanks for your input, it is very much appreciated.
