Fyral – Engineered hardwood flooring

After years of prototyping and testing, we are proud to announce the birth of Fyral, an engineered hardwood floor made entirely from wood grown in Great Britain.

Most engineered hardwood floors are built around a plywood core, imported overseas. Fyral takes a different approach. We replaced the plywood with a thermally modified British timber core, a change that makes Fyral the first engineered hardwood floor grown and made in Britain.

The difference sits in the core. Thermal modification alters the structure of the wood, reducing movement and improving stability. This gives Fyral the dimensional stability engineered flooring is chosen for, with a construction rooted in home-grown timber rather than imported ply. Fyral suits ground floors, open-plans rooms and low-temperature underfloor heating.

The top layer is British oak. British oak carries more character than European, with pips, small knots and cat’s paw clusters giving each board its own personality. Beneath the surface we use a wider range of home-grown species, so more of each tree and more of each woodland goes to good use.

This is a material-led floor. We designed Fyral around the character and availability of the timber growing in British woodlands, not the other way round.

We are a fourth-generation family sawmill in Wiltshire, working with hardwood for over 120 years. Fyral reflects how we think about wood, as a material to understand, not a product to shift.
