Oak frame passivhaus

When Andrew and Linda Burnett chose to self build, they turned to our founder, Tim Crump, who introduced them to Passivhaus design.

After a stay at our show home and a visit to the UK’s first certified oak frame Passivhaus (an Oakwrights’ design) the couple were convinced.

The Burnetts purchased a plot of land in Worcestershire and worked with our architectural team to finalise a design with the main living areas and ensuite master bedroom upstairs to capitalise on their views, and two private bedrooms downstairs.

Andrew and Linda’s frame was encapsulated with an enhanced version of our airtight WrightWall and Roof Natural system which includes sustainable and environmentally friendly recycled newspaper, and Passivhaus-quality sealing tapes. An MVHR and ground source heat pump were installed.

In 2019 the Burnetts’ home received Passivhaus certification and won ‘Best Eco Home’ at the 2021 Build It Awards. “Our home is comfortable at all times, and we couldn’t be happier!” says Andrew.
