This Black beauty is one of Urban Front’s designer Elizabeth Assaf‘s favourite projects from 2018 – it also featured in London Open Houses last September.
What you can’t tell from these images is that it is a certified Passivhaus – the leading international low energy design standard.
Jonathon Pile, the architect on this project, was very keen to match the door to the outer shell and be able to have it Passivhaus certified as well.
The front door doesn’t actually sit on the same elevation and is set back. Looking from the outside, you can see the front door when the main gate is open and it does line through with the cladding.
The Porto e98 Passivhaus certified doorset has a triple glazed side lite and is painted a black RAL colour.
The designer particularly likes how the black stands out with the other timbers used internally and blends in so well on the outside.
