Lloyds Banking Group is streamlining its self-build loan offering. High street lenders Lloyds TSB and Halifax are withdrawing from the market, with self build loans now exclusively available through the group’s specialist mortgage provider, BM Solutions.

The move could actually benefit self-builders looking for finance, as BM Solutions has a dedicated self-build team that can provide a more tailored service to customers than the group’s high-street staff.

BM Solutions’ self-build mortgages are available through brokers such as BuildStore.

The number of self-build lending options has increased steadily in recent years, with 28 products now available compared with 22 in January 2010.
