All of which needed to complement the modern leisure use of the structure. The single storey barn needed to match the larger barns aesthetic. Finally, the farmhouse itself needed a consistent finish using solid oak flooring and reclaimed detailing to bring the estate together. Cawarden supplied all reclaimed bricks and reclaimed roof tiles for the project. The barns were rebuilt completely using reclaimed bricks, including flooring bricks on the ground level. Brick slips cut from reclaimed bricks were used to create authentic looking exposed brick walls, and a feature fireplace was created using reclaimed oak beams that span the ceiling.
Inside the farmhouse itself, we supplied solid oak flooring that was installed throughout the hallways and living room. Brick floor slips and wall brick slips cut from reclaimed bricks were used to create the exposed wall that leads down the staircase. The use of natural materials in their reclaimed state has created a natural flow which links the internal spaces.
The finished result is a group of 3 buildings, which collectively feel like the same property, with a uniform style and a rustic feel. Despite its size, this project feels like a cozy family home while enjoying the beauty of reclaimed interior materials for generations to come.
