When island farmers Saira Renny and George Carr decided to tackle their first self-build project on the Hebridean Isle of Eigg, the venture wasn’t without its challenges.
But with the help of their friends and neighbours, they created a contemporary property on a spot that enjoys some of the most spectacular vistas on the island.
As Green living and low carbon emissions are a core part of the island community’s ethos, Saira and George designed a super-insulated home with plenty of renewable energy features.
Inside, a contemporary, open-plan interior offers holidaymakers a relaxing space to unwind and soak up the sea views. A mezzanine level maximises the structure’s available space, and offers a second bedroom for visitors.
